DEVELOPED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH INDUSTRY EXPERTS AND RESEARCH ORGANISATION
The TM401 was developed to TRL 6 as part of the Energy Technology Development and Demonstration Program (EUDP) project WINDWELD in which Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy A/S, Ørsted A/S, Vattenfall AB, Cowi A/S, Rambøll A/S and the Wind Energy institute under the Danish Technical University (DTU) also participated.
Together with Danish Research & technology organisations (RTOs) FORCE Technology and Danish Technological Institute, we demonstrated that the MAX TM401 delivers fatigue strength improvement in wind turbine support structures at high rate and in a continuous and uniform quality without introducing or compounding weld defects.
The conclusion was that machining can replace grinding as Best Available Technique for improving weld geometry and fatigue strength without affecting material properties.
